Bringing Shoes to the Union Rescue Mission (2012)
On September 1st 2012, Via Trading partnered with the Force of Hope/Bishop Clarence E. McClendon Ministries to bring over 200 pairs of shoes to the homeless population of Skid Row in Los Angeles. Volunteers reunited at the Union Rescue Mission in LA in the morning, and welcomed hundreds of homeless individuals for a warm meal and a free pair of shoes to prepare for the fall and winter months.
As part of a community effort entitled “The Covering Conference,” the McClendon Ministries brought their words of worship to the Union Rescue Mission, speaking to the needs of hundreds of people living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles in an effort to empower this community. Hundreds of people convened underneath tents mounted specially for the event, and men, women and children were handed a pair of new Avia athletic shoes.
We look forward to partnering with this organization once again to help improve the qualify of life for the less fortunate members of our Los Angeles community.
